Yoga

Although yoga is best known as a type of exercise
system that stretches and strengthens the body
through various poses, or 'asanas', it goes
far beyond a mere exercise routine. In fact, yoga is
a spiritual science of self-realization; an ancient
Indian 'body of knowledge' that dates back more
than 5000 years.

The regular practice of asanas and breathing exercises will make the body strong, supple and healthy. It will improve circulation, stimulate the inner organs, glands and nerves, and open the body in preparation for meditation, deep relaxation and a meditative perspective on life. This in turn leads to greater energy, better concentration, and a happier, more fulfilling existence. Many common physical ailments can also be improved through the practice of yoga.

Each of the asanas has specific physical benefits; each is held for a period of time and synchronised with breath control practices, known as pranayama. The poses can be performed quickly in succession, creating heat in the body through movement, or more slowly to increase stamina while perfecting the posture alignment. A 45-minute yoga session at Jari Menari will exercise every part of your body and will also include relaxation and meditation.

At Jari Menari, our sessions offer a safe and comfortable way to experience yoga. Guided by an Indonesian yoga practitioner, you will work to your own comfortable level without being pushed beyond personal limitations. Our yoga partner does not practice adjustment, which goes against most of the current research about how to develop healthy mobility. The emphasis is to help you appreciate your own unique physiology - perhaps with a partner - in order to find a personal relationship with your yoga practice. Yoga can be enjoyed by everyone; it is never too late or too early in life to take it up, and the result is a joyous and free-flowing ritual.

Yoga Stretching Massage
Jari Menari also offers 'Massage with Movement', a 90-minute massage session integrating yoga-influenced twisting and stretching asanas for achieving greater depth into the muscles and tissues without using the strong points of an elbow or thumb. This type of massage is so much better than what is often perceived to be 'deep tissue massage'. Our 'Massage with Movements' techniques are unique to the Jari Menari style of working on the full body at one time.
